I (Matt) said goodbye to Christy and Alexander at 7:30 or so as they left in the ambulance for Atlanta.  Then, I retreated to the haven of Ronald McDonald House to have a good meal and get some rest before my 5:20 am flight to ATL.  I’m now sitting on the plane in Atlanta, ready to grab my bag and a Lyft to Scottish Rite.  I can’t wait to see Alexander and Christy again and talk to the care team.

I have often heard of Ronald McDonald House, but before this experience I couldn’t have told you what service it provides.  Now I know.  It provides near-hospital housing for the families of children hospitalized with serious illnesses.  We are so fortunate to have the resources we have, but no resources can prepare you for the sudden discovery of a life-threatening condition in your child.  The caring and stress-free environment of RMH was a comfort for me during my worst nightmare.  When you consider what charities to support, please consider RMH.
